Valentine Hearts Free Crochet Pattern

I recently ordered some small samples of Malabrigo Worsted because I wanted to see what the colors looked like in person. This purple/pink/red color called, Brilliante, just screamed Valentine’s day to me, so I had to throw together this cute little heart pattern! But not just a pattern! I also made a full video tutorial and I’m so excited to share it with you!

Supplies

Size H (5mm) crochet hook
Scissors
Yarn needle

Yarn

Worsted weight yarn, approximately 3 yards per heart.

Yarn used in examples: Malabrigo Worsted in Brilliante (purple/pink/red) & Whales Road (blue/purple)

Abbreviations

ch(s) – chain(s)
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet

Notes

You can use any weight of yarn for this pattern if you want your hearts to be smaller or larger. Just make sure to choose a hook size that is appropriate for your yarn.

Gauge is not important. 

Pattern

Round 1: Ch 2 (does NOT count as a st), 9 hdc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st to join to 1st hdc – 9 hdc.

Round 2: Ch 2 (counts as 1 hdc), 2 dc in same st, 1 dc & 1 hdc in next st, 1 hdc & 1 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st, ch 2, 1 sc in same st as previous, 1 sc in next st, 1 sc & 1 hdc in next st, 1 hdc & 1 dc in next st, 2 dc & 1 hdc in next st, invisible join to sl st from end of last round and fasten off – 6 dc + 6 hdc + 6 sc + 2 chs.
