Watercolor Fun!

Here’s a little bit of what I’ve done with watercolors so far. These are just a few of my favorites. I haven’t spent as much time playing with them as I should, so I don’t have much to show.

What do you think? I feel like I should go hunt for some inspiration and tutorials!

  1. Looks great Julie! I especially like the way you are leaving a little of the white paper showing in-between the marker outline and the color of the paint. And on the cactus pots, you are layering the paint to create a shadow along the edge. This helps achieve volume rather than looking flat. You have a knack that is natural. Keep it up!

    1. Thank you! That was the first time that I tried that layering paint, on the cactus pots. I will have to experiment with that more! Thanks for your encouragement! :)

  2. They are adorable Julie. Did you scan them in? I love water colour, but do find it quite intimidating sometimes. A good friend of mine taught me the basics whilst on holiday, and it is soooo amazing, and most definately not about perfect landscape paintings. I love your cute paintings.

    1. Thank you! I did scan them. I’m intimidated by it too! I don’t think I’d ever attempt a landscape, I have a feeling it would come out horribly! I enjoy painting less conventional things, like my fur balls! hehe! :)
