Snowflake Hexagon Free Crochet Pattern

I’m excited today to share the hexagon I designed for the Blog Hop Crochet Along! Hello crochet-alongers & welcome to anyone who has never visited me before! :)

Knit Picks was kind enough to send Brava Worsted for us bloggers to work with and when I saw the colors, they felt very wintery to me so I came up with this snowflake design!

 

Finished Size: Hexagon should measure 5 inches across from point to point.

Difficulty Level: Intermediate

 

• 4.5mm crochet hook
• Yarn needle for finishing
• Worsted weight yarn in 2 colors

 Yarn used in example: Knit Picks Brava in Dove Heather (CA) & Solstice Heather (CB)

 

sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
hdc – half double crochet
trc – treble/triple crochet
sk – skip
ch/chs – chain/chains
sl st – slip stitch
rep – repeat
rnd – round
ea – each
st/sts – stitch/stitches
CA, CB – Color A,B

With CA:

 rnd 1: ch 3 (counts as 1 hdc). 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. ch 5. [2 hdc in same ch as before. ch 5.] 5 times. sl st to join to top of first hdc. (12 hdc)

rnd 2: sl st into next ch sp. ch 1.

1 sc in same ch sp. ch 3. (photo A) sk 1 ch (red arrow). 1 sl st in ea of the next 2 chs (white arrows). 1 sc in ch sp from rnd 1. (photo B)

ch 4. sk 1 ch. 1 sl st in ea of the next 3 chs. 1 sc in ch sp from rnd 1.

ch 3. sk 1 ch. 1 sl st in ea of the next 2 chs. 1 sc in ch sp from rnd 1. (photo C) ch 2.

[ In next ch sp from rnd 1: 1 sc. ch 3. (photo D) sk 1 ch. 1 sl st in ea of the next 2 chs. 1 sc in ch sp from rnd 1.

ch 4. sk 1 ch. 1 sl st in ea of the next 3 chs. 1 sc in ch sp from rnd 1.

ch 3. sk 1 ch. 1 sl st in ea of the next 2 chs. 1 sc in ch sp from rnd 1. ch 2.] 5 times.

invisible join to first sc of rnd 2. FO.

With CB:

* * Special notes for round 3 only:dc’s go through both loops as normal. sc’s & hdc’s go in back loops only. trc’s go through the loop on the back of the chs.

rnd 3: Starting in point A: ch 2 (counts as 1 sc). 2 sc in same st. 1 dc in next sc (B). 1 hdc at top of next point (C). 1 trc in ea of the next 2 chs (D). 1 hdc at top of next point. 1 dc in next sc.

[3 sc in next point. 1 dc in next sc. 1 hdc at top of next point. 1 trc in ea of the next 2 chs. 1 hdc at top of next point. 1 dc in next sc.] 5 times. sl st to join. (54 sts)

rnd 4: ch 1 (counts as 1 sc). 1 sc in ea st. (54 sc)

  2. It’s a very nice pattern. But it would be helpful if you would include simple printable instructions withouth all the illustrations – I waste a lot of ink and paper printing stuff that I don’t need.
