DIY Tutorial: Animal Ear Hair Clips
Aaaaand I’m back with another Halloween tutorial! This was inspired by some Pooh ears that I got at Disneyland. They’d be great for a Halloween costume and could be used in a few different ways. I’m going to show you how to make them as hair clips but you could also sew them onto something or attach them to a safety pin so they’re removable. Last year, I used them on my skunk costume.

This project is intended to be sewn by hand. No seam allowances are given.
Click here to download the pattern (PDF file).

Supplies:
- Fur fabric
- Fleece fabric
- Hair clips (I like snap clips for these)
- Needle, thread, scissors

Step 1: Cut out 2 pieces from fur and 2 pieces from fleece.

Step 2: With right sides together, sew around the edge, but not the bottom.

Step 3: Turn right side out. Fold the bottom of the ear in half and sew across making sure to stitch through both the fur and the fleece.

Step 4: Sew your hair clip onto the bottom. Enjoy!

That is a really cute idea, Julie!
Thank you! :)
Hah, cute! I just made some horns in the same fashion last week but I’ve neglected to post mine. I made mine to wear for the Warrior Dash but they can also be used for a Halloween costume. I love your bear ears; using the clips is so much nicer than having to fuss with a headband all night!
Thank you! I thought about making some horns too, just because. They’d be easy to clip on too! :)
Those are too cute! What a great idea!
Your hair looks amazing! The ears are cute but your hair is what I keep looking at. LOL! :)
this will be perfect for my lion costume! thank you :D
By using those types of materials, Do they make your hair staticy?
I’ve never had a problem with static.
These are adorable. Just saw them on Pinterest. Thanks for sharing!
These are super cute! going to have fun making these! Thanks :)
thank you very much! this nice for my baby :)
Nice! I am always buying animal hats but hate to wear them in the summer because they are warm! Lol, perfect solution! Thanks Julie!
The ears are a great idea. Thanks.
Awesome idea, i wonder if fox ears would turn out any good.
I love these ears! I have a couple quick questions though:
1. what kind of stitch did you used to sew these (sorry, i have pretty much zero sewing experience haha) and…
2. what kind of material did you use for your koala ears? i want to go as a koala for Halloween and can’t find koala ears ANYWHERE!
Thanks!!
Oh, such a sweet idea! Looks really gorgeous…
I am SO excited that you have this tutorial for these ears. My 5 month old daughter is going to be a brown bear for halloween, and I wanted to make some ears for my husband and I (so we can be the three bears). I’m even considering dressing my dog up as Goldilocks. Thank you so much for posting how to make these ears!

Hey Julie!
I love these ears! I’m making them for a cosplay however i am a bit confused, when u sew the two pieces together in the 2nd step does the furry fabric have to be inside out? I’m confused about the transition from step 2-step 3
